We've been getting our stuff moved over to the new place and have been in a state of transition for a week or two now. This made me realize how much I treasure having my happy place that I can go after work, and so I've felt a little out of sync from lack of consistency. It's been exhausting and expensive to get everything moved and ready to go, Ill be excited when this place feels more like home. Ever since we knew that we were moving into a house, I've been thinking of things that I will miss or definitely NOT miss about apartment living.
Apartment Pros:
-No solicitors: Elders with suits, small children with lengthy catalogs and the like.
-$30 utility bills, unlimited hot water, and the ability to open the windows in the winter at no added cost.
-Turquoise manicured swimming pool, although I wont miss the weird dude who always came outside with his boa constrictor and a Corona. Lots of creepy wandering eyes in the apartment 'courtyard.'
-The cozy feel of a one bedroom, you're never too far away to brazenly yell out a request.
-Being able to call maintenance when your hair has seemed to knit itself into a sweater in the drain.

Hello House:
No more...
-scrapping to find quarters for laundry. It's harder than you think! Car washes became a frequent weekend stop to obtain quarters.
-going up and down a few flights of stairs with 2-3 loads of laundry stuffed in 1-2 baskets, quarters, detergent and full set of keys. Unlocking security door both ways while carrying all of the above. And then all of the machines are being used.
-getting ready in the bathroom and hearing the neighbors alarm clock radio, shower and/or hairdryer through the wall. Kind of awkward.
-Vacuuming constraints. It may only be done during normal daytime hours, what a bunch of poo.
-Lack of storage space. Opening the hallway closet and having charcoal, a tent and a Christmas wreath fall out on your head.
-Cop visits. Domestics, detoxes, whatever the Manor folks are feeling up to on a particular day. Although these also bring good entertainment value.
-The token crotchety 'older single guy' that has lived in his apartment next door for years. Not a fan of subwoofers.
All in all, Im really going to miss this little place!
